In recent times various modifications in access cavity designs have been proposed mainly to preserve as much precious tooth structure as possible. Various controversies have been raised on the importance of preserving this tooth structure while ensuring complete and thorough debridement of the root canal system. This lecture will discuss the importance of these modifications and bust some myths related to these designs based on current available evidence.

Speaker

  • Dr Tahir Yusuf Noorani

    DDS, MResDent, FRACDS

    Dr. Tahir Noorani completed his basic education in Dentistry with a D.D.S degree from Ajman University of Science & Technology in 2007. He was conferred with a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2014. In 2015, he completed his postgraduate degree in Restorative Dentistry from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Currently, he is a lecturer in School of Dental Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Dr. Tahir has received a few awards for research and academic achievements. He has solely authored or co-authored several publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, undergraduate and graduate research projects supervised by him have been awarded at several local and international conferences.
