Join us for Part 1 of the Online Lecture Series: Grand Designs on Shaky Foundation.

Topic: Periodontal Considerations for Restorative Treatment

Speaker: Dr Tatiana Tkatchenko

Theme: Focusing on the event theme of Grand Designs on Shaky Foundation, this online lecture series will provide a combined perspective of how restorative planning in the Periodontally compromised patient may impact one another. Attendees will gain a broader understanding of how Prosthodontic and Periodontal therapy each influence the overall management of a patient involved in multi-disciplinary treatment. There will be an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment planning, as well as insight into clinical case examples.

Learning Outcomes: Successful restorative dentistry begins with a healthy periodontal foundation. This practical, case-based presentation will provide an overview of the 2018 periodontal classification, with a focus on diagnosing and staging periodontal disease in everyday practice. Through clinical examples and evidence-based discussion, participants will learn how moderate to advanced periodontal disease influences restorative treatment planning, prognosis, and long-term outcomes. The session will provide practical guidelines on when to stabilise periodontal disease before restorative treatment, how to assess tooth prognosis, and when referral to a periodontist should be considered. Attendees will leave with practical strategies to improve interdisciplinary decision-making and enhance the longevity of both teeth and restorations
