Lecture: Minimally Invasive Management of Localised Anterior Tooth Wear using the Dahl Concept

Tooth wear is always accompanied by dentoalveolar compensation. Therefore, lack of interocclusal space presents a dilemma for the restorative dentist, especially where the tooth wear is localised. Management of localised anterior tooth wear represents a challenge as we need to conserve the remaining tooth structure as much as possible and to fulfil the expectation for the teeth and restorations to function for a more extended period. One of the treatment approaches is to apply the Dahl concept that was reported more than 40 years ago. It is a safe, simple, and minimally invasive method to create the localised restorative space for definitive restorations. This lecture will discuss the rationale of the treatment plan and step-by-step management of localised anterior tooth wear using the Dahl technique and adhesive restorations.
