The Wellington ClubThe theme of this year’s NZ Annual Scientific Meeting is “From cavities to cancer and culture to community – dedicated to excellence.”
The lectures vary greatly from Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery to Head and Neck Cancer, public health dentistry highlighting Community Water Fluoridation and an update on Te Ao Maori.

Dr Kate Naysmith
Dr Kate Naysmith recently completed her Masters in Community Dentistry in 2020 becoming a specialist in Dental Public Health. She has been a Senior Dentist at Hutt Hospital since 2008 and prior to that private practice the Wellington region since 1997. Kate has a special interest in paediatric dentistry and is current Secretary/Treasurer and Past President (2016-2018) of the NZ Branch of the Australia New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentists (ANZSPD).

Dr Kathy Fuge
Dr Kathy Fuge lives in Wellington with her husband and three teenage children. She is a public health dentist working as Clinical Director for Wellington Region’s Community Oral health Service. She is responsible for the clinical governance of the publicly funded child oral service and the 75,000 children enrolled. She is passionate about finding innovative ways of addressing inequalities, preventing caries and improving outcomes for children in the region and Aotearoa NZ.

Ms Mids Thomas-Savelio
Ms Mids Thomas-Savelio is considered an expert presenter, trainer, and thought leader who has positively influenced people to make smart life choices. With over 20 years of experience in Training and Development both on a National and International stage. An extensive background spanning over 20 years in operational management/ leadership and ownership. In recent times, Mid is sort after in the governance leader space as the Chair-Person of several boards, including but not exclusive to a national industry board, and extensive work within the Maori/ Crown relationships. With an innovative and entrepreneurial way of thinking, having procured several start-ups and interests across many organisations ranging from strategy, leadership training, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Ao Maori, and operational health through to construction. She is a cultural leader with a proven record of excellence in leadership training and development alongside solid commercial results.

Dr David Antunovic
David Antunovic works both in a busy private practice and for the Taranaki DHB/ Te Whatu Ora Taranaki as Clinical Leader-Dental. David was a founding member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Special Needs Dentistry (ANZASND). He is a specialist special care dentist and consultant to Taranaki Base hospital and Advisor and Educator for the Community oral Health Service. David is an External clinical advisor to ACC for treatment injury. He has practiced in NZ and central London, has undertaken postgraduate study at the University of Otago and has successfully completed fellowships with the RACDS and the RACP and has been an external examiner for both he RACDS and the University of Otago. He was awarded the New Zealand Special Services Medal (2006) for forensic identification services while serving with the N.Z. Police force in Phuket, Thailand following the Asian Tsunami on Boxing Day 2004, and has been deployed to Christchurch on two occasions. He has been appointed Chairman of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons RACDS – New Zealand Regional Committee.

Mr Colin Crampton
Mr Colin Crampton is responsible for Wellington Water’s overall leadership and management, as well as the business’s performance and service delivery for its clients. He is also responsible for progress towards the company’s strategic goals, which are set with the management team and Board of Directors.As the leader of Wellington Water’s team of about 200 full-time-equivalent employees, staff welfare and personal development are also among Colin’s top priorities.Colin was appointed to the role of chief executive of Capacity Infrastructure Services in November 2013. Dr Hadleigh Clarke
Dr Hadleigh Clarke is an Oral Medicine Specialist with the Auckland Regional Hospital & Specialist Dentistry Service. Practicing the full scope of oral medicine, he has particular interests in auto-immune and auto-inflammatory disease, especially those arising in the haematology / oncology setting (e.g. oral GvHD, immunotherapy-related mucositis). He is an examiner for the College and is passionate about both education in Oral Medicine and also intercollegial education.

Dr Philippa Greer
Dr Philippa Greer has a DClinDent(Oral Medicine) from the University of Otago, and is currently completing her MbCHb as the final stage of her specialist training. She is particularly interested in immune-mediated oral mucosal disease and the development of novel treatments for oral squamous cell carcinoma.
