Scientific Meeting Speakers:

Dr Christopher Ho (Prosthodontist) – Digital dentistry paradigms – impression taking, smile design and enhancing workflows
The evolution of digital dentistry has created new paradigms in patient care, offering clinicians enhanced precision, predictability, and efficiency. This presentation will examine the role of digital impression systems in improving accuracy and reproducibility, explore the application of digital smile design for enhanced diagnostic and communication outcomes, and discuss streamlined clinical and laboratory workflows that optimise treatment delivery. Evidence-based insights will be supported by clinical case examples, demonstrating how digital tools integrate across the restorative and aesthetic spectrum to elevate treatment quality and patient experience.

A/Prof William Ha (Endodontist) – Digital workflow in Endodontics
This presentation details the workflow from referrals received, diagnostics, patient management, endodontic treatment, practice management, to patient reporting.  Various computer software and apps will be discussed, not limited to endodontics.

Dr Alan Samakeh (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon) – The use of AI for radiographic pathology detection
The use of AI in accurately, simply and rapidly detecting radiographic pathology, including TMJ pathology and facial fractures.

Prof Alex Quaranta (Periodontist) – Disruptive Innovation in Dentistry: Myth or Reality?
Leveraging his combined expertise as an MBA graduate, seasoned healthcare manager, senior specialist and academic, Alex will share and show how contemporary innovations in dentistry will translate into measurable and system-level impact.

This session will evaluate innovation in dentistry through a pragmatic, evidence-centred lens. It will distinguish invention from innovation and give practical insight on the differences among incremental, sustaining, radical (transformative) or disruptive innovation. Drawing on cross-industry precedents and selected dental advances, such as dental implants, clear-aligner therapy, digital dentistry and AI, it will evaluate technologies and service models focusing on the practical impact for patients, the clinician and the practice. Service innovations, such as telehealth and virtual practice-management and clinic workflows, will also be analysed with emphasis on scalability, imitability, regulatory risk and potential to create durable competitive advantage. The session will conclude with a concise strategic framework for evidence appraisal and stage adoption that will balance clinical benefit and economic feasibility.

Dr Rajiv Verma (Periodontist) – The role of lasers in contemporary periodontal therapy
The integration of lasers into periodontics marks a transformative advancement in modern dental practice. Lasers offer clinicians a minimally invasive and highly effective tool to aid in managing periodontal disease and performing a wide range of soft  and hard tissue procedures in conjunction with conventional therapy. This presentation will discuss the role of soft and hard tissue lasers in periodontics and its impact in enhancing periodontal treatment outcomes.

Dr Dimitra Mersinia (General Dentist) – Smart smiles – the rise of intelligent care in dentistry; past lessons and future innovations
Dentistry like all areas of healthcare, has always evolved through innovation. A.I. has been transforming practice with smarter diagnostics and streamlined workflows. Yet progress requires continuous clarity and balance. This session will trace the journey of dental practice through its traditional foundations to the intelligent technologies across the disciplines and patient care. Will highlight the opportunities and will explore the ethical considerations of a balanced use of A.I. in healthcare whilst remaining clinicians and not just technicians. Will present a clear perspective on how to embrace AI responsibly by translating innovation to enhance precision and efficiency while preserving the H.I. (human intelligence) and connection at the heart of care.
