RACDS Students, Affiliates and Candidates are invited to attend a complimentary canape offering a valuable opportunity to grow with your professional network and engage with active members of the College. 

This year we are delighted to have Adj Prof Albert Tan AM and Dr Libby Day to present on their experiences and contributions to life, dentistry and the College.

This event is currently exclusive to RACDS Candidates, Affiliates and Students.

  • Adj. Prof Albert Tan AM

    BSc, BDSc(WA), MSc(Lond), PhD(Qld), MRACDS(Perio), FADI, FPFA, FICD

    Albert Tan graduated in Science (1969) and Dentistry (1973) from the University of Western Australia (UWA). He completed his postgraduate training in Periodontics at The Royal Dental Hospital, University of London in 1977. He subsequently completed his PhD through the University of Queensland in 1990 He maintained private specialist practice for over 40 years and active roles in teaching at UWA, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In 2012, he was inducted into the Campbell-Wilson Roll of Honour by the UWA Dental Alumni Society for his contribution to dental education in Western Australia. In the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant contribution to tertiary dental education, and to Periodontics. He has been a consultant at the Perth Children’s Hospital for over 40 years and was past Chairman of the dental department. He is a Past President of The Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP) and was subsequently honoured with life membership for services to the Academy and specialty.

  • Dr Libby Day

    BDSc(UWA) MRACDS(GDP) FADI

    Dr Elizabeth (Libby) Day graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Dental Science from University of Western Australia – BDSc(WA). She was an Army Dental Officer with the Defence Forces of Australia, from 1980-85. From 1986-2011 she conducted her own private general practice in the Hills suburb of Glen Forrest. In 2012 she was the first WA dentist to be awarded a Membership of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (MRACDS) in General Dental Practice (GDP) by examination. After selling her Hills practice in 2011, she worked in the Duncraig rooms of her husband (Periodontist , Prof Albert Tan) for 11 years on a part time basis. She has provided continuous tutoring at the University of Western Australia Dental School She has been an Examiner for the Australian Dental Council (ADC) from 2013-19. In 2015 Dr Libby was inducted as a Fellow of Dentistry International (FADI).
