  • Clinical Associate Professor John Owen AM

    In his 52-year career since joining UWA’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1972, Clinical Associate Professor John Owen has served as President or Chairman of nine dental organizations for 42 years. Recognized for his contributions, he became an Honorary Life Member in four organizations, received the Order of Australia in 2010, and garnered various awards, including the Western Australian Citizen of the Year in 2011. Beyond his dental career, Dr Owen is an adventurer, artist, and a qualified swimming instructor. Dr Owen is a co-founder of the Kimberley Dental Team. The Team has successfully provided education and general and specialist services in the remote Kimberley to over 20 different Communities over the past 15 years.. Currently, he owns and operates Midland Orthodontists, mentors dental students, and maintains an active and diverse lifestyle. His motto “It’s not just about Teeth” emphasizes the broader impact of dentistry, focusing on ethics, public service, and personal fulfilment.
