The Primary Dental Sciences Preparation Course will provide you with the knowledge, insight and techniques needed to excel in the Primary Dental Sciences Examination.

The preparation course is designed to cover all six (6) basic science subjects that are assessed in the Primary Dental Sciences (PDS) Examination and provide focused preparation for the examination, including examination strategies, viva voce techniques and written paper preparation. Enrolled candidates will be provided access to the lecture notes and the opportunity to network with peers, academics, Fellows, Members and staff. 

You can enrol in the Primary Dental Sciences Preparation Course regardless of whether you plan to present for the Primary Dental Sciences Examination.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, candidates will:

  • Develop a broad understanding of the six basic science subjects as they relate to dentistry, and how to apply that knowledge in the PDS Examination.
  • Develop a clear strategy for study and how to approach the written and viva voce components of the examination.
  • Acquire effective examination skills and techniques to help you succeed in the PDS examination.

Course Structure:

The course will be delivered in the following format:

Pre-recorded Lectures:

  • Approximately one hour pre-recorded lectures for each of the six subjects will be provided
  • All content will be released on the evening of Friday, 19 May, or earlier as and when it is available
  • PDF lecture notes will be available on the learning management system (LMS).
  • Access to video lectures will be removed following completion of the 2023 examination. All other information will remain on LMS for review.

Live Q&A Sessions:

  • Two (2) live Q&A sessions will be conducted over two consecutive Saturdays
  • Q&A’s will cover each of the six (6) disciplines and examination techniques and tips
  • Saturday, 27 May will cover Anatomy, Histology and Cell Biology & Biochemistry
  • Saturday, 3 June will cover Physiology, Microbiology and Pathology
  • Q&As will be recorded and uploaded to LMS to access at a later stage

  2. Each registered ticket is valid for one person only. No split or shared registrations.

  4. The enrolment fee may be refunded as per the RACDS Refund Policy.
